Come and join us once again for the Motherland Tour.  It is a trip of a lifetime – the tour includes visiting several orphanages (depending on where our travelers are from), children’s centers and seeing the best of Vietnam along the way.

Day 1 (11 Jul 2021): Ho Chi Minh City

Arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport, check-in to hotel
You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel.  Activities will depend on time of arrival.  For those arriving early, a guided walking tour of downtown Saigon.

Day 2 (12 Jul 2021) : Full day Ho Chi Minh City

Breakfast at the hotel/AFK staff meet at hotel to update tour information. A guided city tour of the highlights of Saigon – People’s Committee, Opera house, French designed post office, art galleries and Saigon Book Street.

Go shopping and dinner on own – Ben Thanh market, museums, etc. If you are interested in boutique shopping and coffee shops, please ask AFK staff for directions.

Day 3 (13 Jul 2021): Ben Tre – Mekong Delta tour – HCM City

Morning: Drive to Ben Tre for the “Thomas Martin bike Ceremony” – depend on village.
Enjoy the scenic journey along the National Highway bordered by green rice fields.

Afternoon: Take a leisurely boat ride along the river, have lunch with the Mekong Delta specialty- fried elephant fish, view the stilt houses, fruit plantations and fishing villages along the river bank. Have a tour around the village, with the chance to walk around and see the local houses and farm land before stopping for a drink and to sample some of the local fruit, whilst listening to Vietnamese traditional music (Đàn Ca Tài Tử – A folk art form from Southern Vietnam accredited by UNESCO in 2013 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) at the same time. Then enjoy cruising on a hand-rowed sampan under the shadow of the water coconut trees along natural canals. On the way, we can stop at local manufacturers where you could see the production of local sweets and coconut wood furniture.

Day 4 (14 Jul 2021): HCM City /Tam Binh Orphanage

Morning: Breakfast at hotel, then we go to visit and give gifts to Tam Binh Orphanage in Thu Duc District.

Afternoon: Shopping on own at Saigon Square/ walking along Nguyen Hue boulevard to discover the Incredible Cafe Apartment, No. 42 Nguyen Hue Street.

18:00: Enjoy “Aah! Ooh!” Show – an amazing and exciting mixture of acrobatics, dance and storytelling providing an insight into real Vietnamese life and culture.
Dinner on own with recommendations and direction guides provided by AFK staff.


Day 5 (15 Jul 2021): HCM City- Danang

Early morning: Fly to Danang, visit a little Fresco (wall painting) village, Silk Embroidery workshop, then Hai Chau Hospital No. 1 (depending on group members) and Ngu Hanh Son Mountain.

Afternoon: After hotel check-in, you can go to the beach on own, or walking through Hoi An Ancient Town to discover its hidden charms and delicious cuisine. In 1999, UNESCO formally recognizes Hoi An as a World Heritage Site. Our hotel is just 4 minutes walking to the town. Places to visit: Cau Pagoda (Chùa Cầu), Tan Ky Old House, Phuc Kien Chinese Assembly Hall, Phuc Kien Chinese Assembly Hall, Quang Dong Chinese Assembly Hall… Shopping is great and you can have tailored clothing made – ready next day.

Day 6 (16 Jul 2021): Hoi An

Morning Cooking Class: Stroll around a vegetable village with your Chef before joining the farmer to see and to practice the traditional farming methods in preparing, and fertilizing the land with organic source of fertilizer such as seaweeds, wild weeds, soybean or peanut residue after oil extraction, or cow dung. The following steps are raking the ground, sowing or transplanting vegetables, watering, and some other gardening activities.

After farming experience, you will take a break then have relaxing foot massage which is a health treatment with traditional medicinal herbs before taking part in preparing and cooking some of the famous local dishes including “Banh Xeo”-Local Rice-Pancakes, Banana Flower Salad, Fresh Spring Rolls, and “Ram”-Local Fried Spring Rolls with the instruction of your local Chef. Enjoy your meal with dishes that made by yourself.

Afternoon: Join a Lantern making class to make your own lantern

Night: Free time to discover more of Hoi an. Dinner on own.

Day 7 (17 Jul 2021): Hoi An – Hanoi – Sapa

Breakfast at the hotel/Free time to refresh at local herbal drink shops or hang out at the town market.

11:00 Try the famous Phuong Banh Mi (Hoi An styled baguette), check out and go to BaNa Hill. Take a 17 minutes cable car to the top of the hill. Along the way, it passes above gorgeous verdant scenery and provides excellent views down below to Da Nang’s My Khe Beach and the urban expanse of the city.

The entrance ticket includes most of the service in Ba Na Hills park: round-trip cable car, the Golden Bridge, French village, Fantasy Park, Linh Ung Pagoda on the mountain, Debay Wine Cellar, and Le Jardin D’Amour Flower Garden.

18:00 Fly to Hanoi and take midnight train to Sapa from Dong Anh Station.

Day 8 (18 Jul 2021): Sapa

Morning: Transfer to Sapa from the train station. Hiking tour through town and village seeing local activities. You can even hire traditional costume for amazing photos. There are a lots of local crafts and snacks for purchase.

Authentic Sapa lunch in the village.

You will be guided to Sapa Night Market, originally Sapa Love market, which is only 200m from our hotel and started as from 6:00pm.

Dinner on own in small and famous local food shops around the market with recommendations and direction guides provided by AFK staff.

Day 9 (19 Jul 2021) : Sapa – Hanoi

Morning: Breakfast at the hotel/Taking on the longest non-stop three-rope cable car in the world to Fansipan Mountain – the so-called “Roof of Indochina”. Jaw-dropping views of swirling clouds and forested slopes from the top of Fansipan make this adventure a must-do on any Sapa itinerary.

Afternoon: Free time shopping local souvenirs in Sapa. You can also try herbal bath, foot/ body massage at Alvin Spa Massage (recommended), which is just 100m from our hotel.

18:00 Depart to Lao Cai and have dinner, then take midnight train back to Hanoi.

Day 10 (20 Jul 2021): Hanoi

Morning: Hanoi City Tour, to visit St Joseph’s Cathedral, Quoc Tu Giam Temple of Literature and Bat Trang Traditional Ceramic Village where you can learn and do your own clay art piece (fee of making clay is on own).

Afternoon: Discover Ha Noi Ancient Town on own, of which the shop streets turn into walking night market as from 6pm (our hotel is 350m from the town).

Day 11 (21 Jul 2021): Hanoi- Hoa Binh

Morning: Visit and have lunch at Hoa Binh orphanage.

Afternoon: On the way back to Hanoi, stop by and walk through traditional villages of bamboo crafts & silk, enjoy seeing the rural life and their daily works, with 70% chance to see locals do bamboo crafts & silk.

Night: Free time to have fun exploring Ha Noi Ancient Town on own. Dinner on own. If you like the bustling atmosphere, you can try local foods and beers on Ta Hien Street

Day 12 (22 Jul 2021): Hanoi – Ninh Binh

Morning: Visit Bai Dinh, Southeast Asia’s largest Buddhist complex, is holding many records of Vietnam, Asia, Southeast Asia. Looking at the height of 100m, the panorama of the pagoda is taken into view with incredible beauty.

Afternoon: Visit Trang An. Being endowed with a beautiful landscape, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh Province in Northern Viet Nam is called as an “Ha Long Bay on land” with numerous caves, mountains, valley, trees and historic relics. It is inscribed in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, proudly being the Viet Nam’s first site to be acknowledged as a mixed natural and cultural heritage.

Day 13 (23 Jul 2021): Ninh Binh – Hanoi

Morning: Enjoy a morning boat ride through Tam Coc with spectacular scenery. Tam Coc is often called ‘Ha Long Bay on the land’ for its system of limestone grottoes. Its geology suggests this place was under the sea millions of years ago. The land emerged gradually over centuries and waves eroded the limestone mountains to form grottoes.

Afternoon: Come back to Hanoi, on the way back, we can visit traditional villages of making incenses and conical hats.

Dinner: Rest & dinner on own. There’re still a lot of foods waiting for you to discover while walking by corners and alleys of Hanoi Ancient Town!

Overnight in Hanoi– Hotel: 3 stars

Day 14 (24 Jul 2021): Hanoi

Morning: Have a nice walk to breakfast and coffee along the railway coffee town. After 45minutes experiencing the coffee and atmosphere on own, you’ll have a cyclo ride to the ancient town/ back to your hotel as requested.

Free afternoon, you can continue to explore Hanoi Ancient Town and dinner on own.

Night: Merge into the local vibes at the weekend walking street along Hoan Kiem Lake. In each segment of the walking street, we can find many groups of people playing folk games. These folk games in walking street not only bring an exciting and unforgettable experience but also the role of bridging and connecting people together, which bring locals back to the childhood innocence.

Some may leave for airport for night flight – Taxi on your own to airport as we are all flying at different times.


Day 15 (25 Jul 2021): Hanoi

Take taxi on your own to airport.

Some choose to stay longer on their own as there is so much to do and see in the Hanoi area, visit Cambodia for a few days, etc. If you stay over, then please check out or book more night(s) at hotel. End of Tour – Memories will last a lifetime.
